This painting was inspired by memories of working on my family’s tree farm in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley – sometimes very early or very late in the day. The long shadows and sunlight filtering through the trees were always beautiful there, even when the physical work was challenging.
This 21-inch high by 34-inch wide canvas is comfortably sized and follows the golden ratio in its proportions. Countless hand-painted circles in delicate orange and a very pale blue create a luminous harmony, with darker elements framing and deepening an overall sense of light.
