When asked to write about my inspiration for the paintings for the wall text, I wrote:
I love the old industrial harbor edges that still exist a few places here in Brooklyn, especially in the Red Hook neighborhood (where “On the Waterfront” was set). I’ve been thinking about sitting on the old piers as it’s getting dark, that sense of the dark water in the harbor and the vast distance it connects with.
