One of a group of watercolors made while staying at the Silver Bay YMCA in the summer of 2019, this watercolor was made from a dingy that I checked out from the Y and rowed around tower point to Van Buren Bay. From there I painted looking to the west in the direction of Number One hundred and Eight Mountain, although what I was seeing was mostly an un-named foothill. The resulting image is in-between a factual report and an abstract summary of what I saw: overwhelming light from the afternoon sun, intensely colored shadows, and a strip of the water I was sitting on and the sunlight it reflected.

This painting was included in 2026 the exhibit Layered: Beyond the Surface at Blank Space in Seoul.
