This smaller canvas is filled with countless circular marks in white and gold tones that build into a luminous central passage, suspended above a deep band of brown and ultramarine blue. The vertical format creates an interesting tension between landscape space and figurative presence.

I’ve used a light touch with a number of the circles in this painting. The resulting thin edges contribute a sense of ethereal presence. Touches of 24 karat gold leaf accent the brightest areas, catching and reflecting light in ways that will change as you move around the canvas.

This intersection of abstract landscape and vertical composition is a direction I am looking forward to exploring in future work.
