Silver Leaf Prints
I created this series of prints on silver leaf by working on one special drawing for one year. As I drew, I was thinking about one of my favorite places growing up, a rural road in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. The prints are almost like snapshots of that one drawing as I continued to add layers of circles.
As I worked, the image got gradually darker. The growing darkness ended up feeling like walking down that road at dusk, hearing the crickets getting louder, watching the stars come out. I love that these Wanderer prints share a little bit of that favorite journey with everyone who sees them.
Each of the five prints in this series is a limited edition of 15 and is signed and numbered. Printed on paper specially prepared with hand-laid, non-tarnishing aluminum leaf using 100% carbon pigment ink mixed right here in my Brooklyn studio.
The 3rd and 5th state prints include touches of gold leaf applied by hand.
