This archival reproduction of my night rainbow painting “Omega” is printed right here in my Brooklyn studio. Like the 8 by 10 foot painting it reproduces, I’ve presented the print as a diptych – a format that allows me to create a larger 26.5 by 21 inch image across two sheets of cotton rag paper. Each sheet captures the full spectrum of rainbow colors – from deep indigo through brilliant blues, greens, yellows, and oranges – built from countless painted circles.
The inspiration for this series of rainbow paintings came from seeing an unusually intense rainbow just before sunset in Brooklyn. That fleeting moment sparked my imagination about how light interacts with countless water droplets to create these celestial phenomena. Here, I’ve carefully adjusted the colors before printing to ensure each rainbow tone glows against the night-dark background.
I’ve torn each sheet by hand and carefully retouch the edges with black ink, creating a natural looking deckled border that enhances the print’s presence. Each pair of prints in this edition of 20 is signed and numbering on the reverse side and includes a certificate of authenticity.
