Why I paint circles until I lose count

I’ve been staring at the night sky since I was a child. From the time I was young I knew that there were more points of light up there than I could count. Later it was thinking about the overwhelming distance and time that those photons had crossed before touching my eyes that made me feel a little overwhelmed. In either case, those stars made me feel small in the best possible way.  Here in Brooklyn, there’s less to see when I step outside to look up at night. But every time I do look up I can feel in my bones that I am just one speck in a sea of so very many. So I respond by painting these very many circles, hoping to share that feeling of awe I get from the sky at night.
